Making gardens with wildlife, for people.

We create wildlife friendly gardens in Sheffield and the surrounding areas, including the Peak District. Sustainable building practices and generous planting to increase biodiversity are at the heart of what we do.

With a bit of thought, gardens can look good, function well for our needs and meet the needs of wildlife. Welcoming wildlife into the garden can really bring a space to life and add an extra layer of interest throughout the year, especially for kids!

Services

  • Garden Design & Build

Every step from throwing ideas around to drawing, landscaping and planting. Natural or recycled materials are often featured alongside generous areas of planting. Planting combinations are inspired by natural plant communities so are designed to live well alongside each other and require less maintenance.

  • Maintenance

Gardens don’t always need to be ripped out and started fresh. In many instances gardens can be gradually steered in a different direction through creative maintenance, like different mowing regimes, refreshed planting and editing.

  • Small Projects

It could be a wildlife pond, a cosy corner to sit in or making some raised beds. We’re experienced in sourcing all the materials, knowing what the more environmentally friendly options are and how to incorporate habitat into everyday things.

  • Consultation

Maybe you love getting stuck into a project yourself and are raring to go but aren’t really sure where to start, or want some advice on which plants would suit your garden. You can book a consultation and we’ll go through things together and collate all the ideas into straight forward steps.

BBC Gardeners’ World

Our home garden has been a place to try out ideas and trial different plants to see how things perform in real life, not just in pots in a nursery. It might be slightly chaotic but it means that we can recommend plants and design with confidence.

We also trial different natural building techniques, again, so we know what works and what has longevity in a real garden situation.

Earlier this year our home garden was featured on BBC Gardeners’ World as a garden in a difficult location that had been turned into a haven for wildlife and also for our young family. The piece was filmed in 2022 before Will became a professional garden designer.
